What is EMS Body Sculpting?

Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that improves muscle building and fat burning. EMSCULPT is the first device to build muscle and sculpt your body. Through the high intensity electromagnetic therapy procedure one can enlarge current muscles, as well as grow new muscle fibers. The Emsculpt procedure is currently FDA cleared to treat your abdominals, buttocks, arms, calves and thighs.

How Does It work?

Electromagnetic energy forces the muscles in the treated area to contract. It is similar to how voluntary contractions of muscle work, but on an extreme level. The device thus takes over the body’s natural ability to contract the muscles and does so to a much stronger extent. These are called supramaximal muscle contractions, contractions that impossible to without the device. When using EMS, your body’s muscles will contract 20,000 times in one 30 minute session. That is the equivalent of doing 20,000 crunches or squats in a single session.

The muscle tissue then has to respond to these extreme conditions it is experiencing. So, it starts to remodel its inner structure. Muscles must feed on local calories and fat to endure the contractions. The end result is that fat is lost and muscle is gained.

EMSCULPT NEO is based on an applicator simultaneously emitting  synchronized RF and HIFEM+ energies. Due to the radiofrequency heating, the muscle temperature quickly raises by several degrees. This prepares muscles for exposure to stress, similar to what a warm up activity does before any workout. In less than 4 minutes, the temperature in subcutaneous fat reaches levels that cause apoptosis, i.e. fat cells are permanently damaged and slowly removed from the body. Clinical studies showed on average a 30% reduction in subcutaneous fat.*

Bypassing the brain limitations, HIFEM+ energy contracts the muscle fibers in the area at intensities that are not achievable during voluntary workout. Extreme stress forces the muscle to adapt resulting in an increase in the number and growth of muscle fibers and cells. Clinical studies* showed on average a 25% growth in muscle volume.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation Training

Athletes and models alike have turned to electrical muscle stimulation in their regular training routine. It was reported that professional athletes could gain up to four centimeters of muscle tone using EMS. Many physical therapists recommend devices like these to speed up the recovery of specific muscle injuries. It is also an excellent way to find the areas of your body that are muscle deficient and build awareness of what muscles you may need to more attention to during your weekly workouts. The reason that treatments with EMS are so successful in increasing muscle and sculpting your body is that the contractions stimulate multiple muscle groups at one time.

For example, if you’re looking for definition of your upper body, such as your core and arms, you would have to perform isolated exercises on each muscle group with a traditional workout. However, with an EMS session, you will experience multiple muscle groups being activated at the same time. In return, you will lose weight while toning and firming muscles in only 30 minutes. EMS is the ideal solution for body shaping and muscle building. However, it is most useful for people who are already in shape and who exercise regularly. Then if you need a little extra help to define the abdomen or lift the buttocks, EMS will give you just that.
